Cardiovascular surgery treats diseases and conditions of the heart and the blood vessels of the entire body. Common cardiovascular procedures include coronary bypass surgery, aortic or mitral valve replacement or repair, and aneurysm repair.
Cardiovascular surgery instruments are used to treat the lungs, heart, esophagus, and other organs within the chest. Commonly, thoracic surgical instruments include clamps and forceps, graspers, needle holders, chest and sternum spreaders, retractors, and scissors.
